About rose hill

By finding and telling powerful stories, We help activists and organizers win campaigns that shift power to the people and upend THE status quo.

Rose Hill Consulting is a boutique, bilingual communications firm based in Philadelphia. Rose Hill was born out of the need for progressive communicators to provide high-impact communications to advance the campaigns and advocacy of progressive causes and good-doers, from activists and organizers to legal advocates and nonprofits. Rose Hill takes on good work by specializing in supporting activists, organizers, and movement-led groups to maximize their impact on decision makers and win meaningful, lasting, widespread changes to improve lives and transform systems for good.

Years of experience and hard-fought wins have equipped Rose Hill with a toolbox full of strategies to lift up the voices of directly impacted people who are so often excluded from having a voice in the conversation or a seat at the table—whether that's in the press or in the halls of the Capitol.

Rose Hill Consulting is a sophisticated, hands-on, and nimble operation run by Melissa McCleery.

Melissa McCleery, founder & prESIDENT

Melissa McCleery is founder and president of Rose Hill Consulting, delivering winning communications and campaign strategy for activists, organizers, labor unions, and community groups.

Most recently, Melissa led communications for the Save Chinatown campaign in Philadelphia, a 2 ½ year fight which successfully stopped three billionaires from building a basketball arena in the heart of Philadelphia’s thriving Chinatown, protecting one of the last remaining Chinatowns in the U.S. from displacement and destruction, and uniting Philadelphians across neighborhood, race, and class.

Before founding Rose Hill, Melissa served as communications director for Philadelphia City Councilmember Helen Gym, where she led communications for campaigns to pass the nation’s strongest Fair Workweek law to protect 130,000 low-wage hourly workers, shut down private youth incarceration facilities, and secure landmark funding to protect families from eviction. She reads, writes, and speaks fluent Spanish and always has a knitting project at hand.
